Loving Organic Lavender - Simple How to’s at Home
Lavender is a fragrant beautiful herb and flower and it is edible. I love using lavender in flower arrangements, cooking with it, and using it to fresh the air at home.
I use lavender in the dryer to freshen my clothes. Simply put dried lavender in a sachet that has Velcro as the closer and throw it in the dryer. You can use it up to 5 even 6 times to add fresh lavender fragrance to your clothing. After you have used the organic lavender sachet 5 or 6 times in the dryer empty it onto your rug or carpet and vacuum. The fresh lavender fragrance is released into the air. Lavender is a natural antiseptic too.
Make lavender water. Simply put one or two handfuls of fresh lavender in a heavy 32 oz mason style jar with screw on lid (something that can with stand heat) pour boiling hot water over the lavender and seal the jar with the lid. Let the jar stand at room temperature for 24 hours. Do not refrigerate. Voila lavender water. You can use the lavender water for cooking; add it cupcakes, ice cream, cakes, frostings, add it to your favorite lotions, put it in a bath, to wash your delicates use your imagination, have fun. (Photo on the right is rose water using the same method).
You can also use other kinds of fragrant herbs and flowers; fresh fragrant rose petals, basil, sage, rosemary geranium, apple geranium, whatever tickles your fancy. Be creative. If you are using these items for food make sure they are safe to eat.
